This is an update on FDA's position. We only have a short time left, and the more we review this document the more troubling it is. Please look at the link in this article, and see what has already happened to one form of B-6. A troubling outcome from this guidance is that if drug companies apply for a patent BEFORE supplement companies can submit the NDI application, that "natural substance" will now be considered a drug, and will never be allowed in supplements again.
What this means is that if you want the newest available form of B-6, or new studies show that higher levels of Vitamin D are better for you, you will be forced into getting a prescription, and I have no doubt that the drug companies will be reimbursed for their trouble. We all know what prescriptions cost now days, do you really think your multiple should cost 125.00, or more?
Comment now, contact everyone you know about this issue, have them contact their representatives, along with the FDA and tell them to scrap this draft document it isn'tgood for our health, and it will be disastrous on your wallet.

Comment to FDA
Please use the link, and review what FDA has in store for your access to vitamins. It is shocking.
Please comment it is the only way to save dietary supplements, this is the real deal this time, it seems that each year we have some new danger to our access, but with one fatal swoop, FDA can and will do this, they do not need Congress, or anyone else, with as little as a ninety day notice they can interpret the law and it stands, with no legal recourse until they take action.
You can stop this, let them know that this was not the intent of the notification article in DSHEA, it was meant as a notification, not a pre market approval. Help now!

Center of Excellence
I just had the opportunity to speak with a great visionary in our industry, Dr. James Sensenig ND. Now will he kill me for being so dramatic? Probably, but I'm safely accross the country at the moment. Jim and I have had many talks over the years on the condition of medicine, and where it is going, who is leading it, and what responsibility we have in all of this.
I am adding these thoughts because it is completely in line with what this blog is about, Integrity in our industry.
We are of the same thought, we need to pursue something now. It is time for a place where physicians of all backgrounds can come and learn how to use holistic medicine, in real time. We need a learning clinic, not just a teaching clinic. One where all walks of medicine can come together and learn from one another without the stereo types and political jocking that has eroded our current health system. Really a Center for Excellence.
Thank you for continuing to inspire us Jim. All my best.
You can visit and learn more about Dr. Sensenig ND at http://www.naturalhealthct.com/who_we_are.htm

Thanks Priority One! - from FNM Project

Dear Danielle,
We are once again grateful for your donation of $1,000 toward Priority One’s Bronze $5,000 contributions over five years. This greatly helps benefit all who are involved in realizing the vision of the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine Project. We humbly send our regards to Priority One and thank you for the support you give us.
As you well know, the FNM Project is a highly anticipated collaboration of naturopathic medicine’s many thought leaders and practicing naturopathic physicians to produce a singular reference point for physicians, students, clinicians, and medical professionals. By laying the foundations for naturopathic medicine’s philosophy, theories, principles, and practices through an academically-sound textbook, the profession will advance naturopathic medical education. Priority One’s Bronze “Prevention and Wellness” sponsorship helps us along the way to codifying and synthesizing the comprehensive knowledge within the field of naturopathic medicine.
I understand that Priority One was present in force with Kacey and Joe Whitman and George Bynum at the 2009 NorthWest Naturopathic Physicians Convention this spring. I was especially pleased to hear about the essay research requirements for the Bastyr University students to compete for the Priority One naturopathic student scholarship. Sharon Fisher, FNM’s Project Manager appreciated meeting George, Kacey and Joe to become acquainted.
Danielle, I am pleased to be back for three days a week for now. It is good to be working with the FNM Project again. It is wonderful to know that you and Priority One stand with us. Your heartfelt words quoted on the homepage of your website are encouraging for these times:"Never trade your morals for your goals: We believe those who compromise what they believe in to satisfy their goals wind up dissatisfied with their accomplishments.” Clearly our shared accomplishments are solidly based in integrity. Priority One’s continued support is incredibly motivating and sustaining to us.
With our deepest gratitude and warmest regards,Pamela Snider, NDExecutive and Senior EditorDavid J. Schleich, PhDPresident, National College of Natural MedicineAssociate Editor, Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine Project
